Increase in the compression factor in stimulated-Brillouin-scattering compression of nonmonochromatic light pulses
An increase in the compression factor, i.e., in the ratio of the length of the pump pulse to that of the Stokes pulse, Η = Tp /Ts, has been observed during stimulated-Brillouin-scattering compression of nonmonochromatic laser light. An interpretation of the effect is offered. The value of Η can reach values Hmax = 60-100 at the "optimum" spectral width of the pump pulse.
