Effect of intense ultrashort light pulses on a substance
Gamalii E. G., Tikhonchuk V. T.
The processes which occur during the application of an intense subpicosecond laser pulse to a condensed-matter target are discussed. Under certain conditions, a new, nonhydrodynamic interaction of the light with the substance sets in. Under these conditions the plasma can serve as a source of an intense pulse of hard χ radiation.
