Two pinning mechanisms in single crystals of the Bi2+xSr2+yCa1+zCu2Ot phase

The critical current densityjc in Bi2 + x Sr2 + yCax + 2Cu2 Ot single crystals has been observed to increase sharply (by a factor of tens) after bombardment with Ar + ions. Analysis of the flux creep, the temperature dependence of jc, and the field dependence of jc reveals an intrinsic low-temperature pinning mechanism and also a defect-related high-temperature mechanism.
