Experiments on muon relaxation in hydrogen isotopes in longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields have shown that there is a significant difference in the behavior of the muon and the muonium components. The relaxation rate of the muonium component increases with the nuclear magnetic moment, whereas the depolarization of the diamagnetic component (μ + ) is virtually independent of the isotopic composition.
