Spin waves have been detected for the first time in nonmetallic systems lacking a magnetic order: in quasi-ID carbon structures. These waves are observed at room temperature. They are caused by paramagnetic topological solitons. Oriented quasi-ID structures were fabricated through ion implantation in diamond films.
