Observation of submillimeter radiation from a nonequilibrium electron-hole plasma in silicon at 4.2 K
Experiments have revealed an intense generation of submillimeter radiation ~80-120 μτη) from a nonequilibrium electron-hole plasma in silicon in an electric field at liquid-helium temperatures. The experimental results are reported. Mechanisms for the emission are discussed.
