Direct measurement of the electron spin-lattice relaxation time of paramagnetic centers in a high-Tc superconductor
The electron spin-lattice relaxation time T\ in a high-Γ^ superconductor has been measured directly by a method of modulated ESR saturation in which the longitudinal magnetization is detected. The temperature dependence of Τλ for paramagnetic Cu2+ centers has been found for a YBa2Cu307_)5 sample. The relaxation accelerates just below Tc, possibly because of the opening of the superconducting gap.
