Concerning the possible generation of cosmic rays and gamma bursts in plasma pinches
The hypothesis is considered that the cosmic gamma bursts are generated by bremsstrahlung of electrons accelerated in lightning-like discharges arising in "peripheral plasma shells" of stars. Such shells could be formed between stars as a result of a long-term accumulation of plasma "wind" (similar to the "solar wind") in those places where it collides with the wind from neighboring stars. The possibility that ions are generated and accelerated as cosmic rays in the same discharges is also considered. © J995 American Institute of Physics.
