Effect of macroscopic irregularities of the heteroboundaries on the optical susceptibilities of quantum structures
The effect of technological fluctuations of the positions of the heter-oboundaries on the optical susceptibilities of quantum structures was investigated. It was shown that these fluctuations cause a temperature-dependent shift of the resonance frequencies in the absorption spectrum on intersubband transitions. It was demonstrated for the example of a solitary quantum well that in a system which is symmetric on the average there arises a second-order optical response which is proportional to the difference of the rms deviations of the position of the opposite boundaries of the structure. © 7995 American Institute of Physics.
