Calculated properties of M1 excitations in 40Ca and 48Ca

The properties of the low-lying Μ1 resonances in Ca and 48Ca are calculated from a microscopic model which incorporates 1 ρ 1 h configurations and complex configurations of the type "1/?1 h + a phonon." A good agreement with experiment is found.
