Temperature dependence of the self-trapping rate
Ioselevich A. S. , Rashba E. I.
A theory is derived for the temperature dependence of the self-trapping rate. At high temperatures an Arrhenius law w oc exp ( — W/T) holds, where W is the height of the self-trapping barrier. At low temperatures tunneling is predominant. In the exponential approximation, the behavior lnw oc [a + bexp (ω/Τ)] holds for optical phonons, while lnw oc (a + bT4) holds for acoustic phonons.
