Paramagnetic susceptibility and paramagnet-ferromagnet crossover in the ground state of the U=∞ Hubbard model

The paramagnetic susceptibility χ(Ο,Ο) = dR{H)/dH {H^O,U = oo ) ofthe Hubbard model is calculated in second order in the kinematic interaction. The result found radically changes the conclusion, which follows from the theory of first order in the kinematic field, that there is a paramagnetic instability at Τ = 0. The expression for ^(0,0) agrees with the Pauli susceptibility in the gas limit (ra^O). It describes a pronounced correlation enhancement (by afactor ~5) at an intermediate filling (η ~ 0.5). It describes a crossover to a ferromagnetic state at thepoint«~0.83for/o(£') =p= 1/2 W.
