Hysteresis in an external field and critical temperature behavior of the photoinduced system of electrical domains in ruby crystals

Hysteresis is observed in the dependence of the internal field on the applied voltage and in the current-voltage characteristics of an optically excited ruby specimen, directly confirming the connection between the formation of irradiation-induced electrical domains and the electrical instability due to the photovoltaic effect.
