Dynamic gratings of the quadratic polarizability in polydiacetylene PTS
A single crystal of polydiacetylene PTS was exposed to (E3)-coherent picosecond pulses (Λω=1.06 μηι) and second-harmonic pulses (Λ=0.53 μπι), which met at an angle 0=4 X 10"3 rad. The observed diffraction of the λω beam through angles — 0, — 30, and —50 is interpreted in terms of the writing of a grating of the quadratic polarizability and the subsequent generation of a 2ύ>со signal at this grating.
