Nonreciprocal rotation of the polarization plane of light in the antiferromagnet Cr2O3 which is linear and quadratic in the electric field

Effects of a nonreciprocal rotation of the polarization plane of light with a linear dependence and also with a quadratic dependence on the electric field have been observed. These effects are comparable in magnitude. The quadratic effect is most obvious during a switching of antiferromagnetic domains and during magnetic ordering near TN.
