Coherent amplification of intense nanosecond pulses in a multilevel system
Coherent amplification in a multilevel system is analyzed for the particular example of the iodine lasing transition 2Ρι/2~^2^3/2· The evolution of the pulses leads to a situation with the highest possible energy output. An experiment could be carried out on the chemical pumping of iodine.
