Photo-emf at a cleaved germanium surface in liquid helium
Zavaritskaya E. I., Sokol E. G.
Illumination with light at a wavelength λ S 1.6 μιη produces a significant photo-emf directed along a germanium surface which has been produced by cleaving a crystal in liquid helium and heating it in helium vapor. The effect stems from a quasi-2D diffusion of photoinduced current carriers in a high gradient of the surface resistivity.
