Phase transition of order 2 1/2 in zinc
Gaidukov Yu.P., Danilova N.P., Shcherbina-Samoilova M.B.
The anisotropy of the magnetoresistance р(Я) in the free state and under uniaxial elastic tension was measured in filamentary zinc crystals ~ 1 μιη thick. The measurements were performed at Τ = 4.2K in fields up to 80 kOe. An abrupt change in the anisotropy of p(H) was observed at an elongation Δ///0^0.35% along the [2311] axis. This change is attributed to a change in the topology of the Fermi surface of zinc—the bridges along the [0001] axis are broken, as are several bridges in the (0001) plane.
