An increase in the superconducting-transition temperature of β-(BEDT-TTF)2I3 to 6-7 K at a normal pressure
/?-(BEDT-TTF)2I3 crystals can be obtained by heat treating iodine-rich e-phase crystals of the (BEDT~TTF)4(I3)2I8 composition in a vacuum. The superconducting-transition temperature of a/?-(BEDT-TTF)2I3 crystal obtained in this manner increases from 1.5 К to 6-7 К at a normal pressure, reaching a record level for organic superconductors.
