Observation of intensive γ-radiation of 900-MeV electrons in the case of channeling in a diamond

Gamma-radiation spectra were recorded when 900-MeV electrons passed through single-crystal diamond and graphite targets of the same radiation thickness. We show that in the case of electron channeling the yield of 16-MeV y-rays is ~ 50-fold higher for disoriented diamond or graphite.
