Study of the production of the (1236) isobar in the reaction π-+d → p+Δ-(|Delta^- backward) from 1.03 to 1.68 GeV/c

We measured the differential cross section of the backward production of the Δ(1236) isobar in the reaction π~ + ά —φ +Δ~ at four values of the momentum of the incident negative pions in the interval from 1.03 to 1.68 GeV/c. The measured cross sections are in satisfactory agreement with the calculations performed on the basis of the triangular reaction mechanism.
