Giant second harmonic and size effect in ultrasmall metal particles
An increase by four orders of magnitude has been observed in the gain for the giant second harmonic for metal particles with a radius on the order of 10 A. The increase results from the influence of size effects on the nonlinear susceptibility and the local-field factor.
