Description of Gamow-Teller resonances in deformed nuclei
The strength functions for the {p,n) and (n,p) transitions in 162Dy, 166,168Er, and 238U are calculated in the random-phase approximation. The Gamow-Teller resonance peak is at 17-18 MeV and accounts for about 50% of the strength of this resonance. About 30% of the strength is at low energies.
