Study of collisional relaxation as a function of velocity using the photon-echo method
The photon-echo method is used to determine the rate of relaxation of the dipole moment Γ as a function of the relaxational velocity vz in SF6 gas and in the mixture SF6-Kr. Comparison of these dependences with the theoretical dependences lead to the conclusion that in pure SF6 gas the interaction is close to F~ 1/r3, which is related to the exchange mechanism of rotational relaxation in SF6; in the mixture SF6-Kr, short-range forces play a large role.
