Pretransitional anomalies in the rotation of the plane of polarization of light in ferroelectric liquid crystals
It is observed that the sign of the fluctuation contribution to the rotation in the smectic A phase differs from the sign of the rotation in the smectic С * phase and isotropic phase. A theoretical explanation of the observed anomaly is given.
