Directed atomic collisions in single crystals as a method of measuring the lifetimes of short-lived nuclei and of crystal-lattice investigation
A method is proposed for measuring the lifetimes of short-lived nuclei (r~ 10~16~10~14 sec) and for the use of such nuclei as indicators. The method is based on controlled collisions of unstable nuclei (atoms) with the nearest neighbors in a single-crystal lattice.
