P-odd asymmetry in the fission of 233U by polarized thermal neutrons
We measured the Ρ-odd asymmetry of the emission of light (or, respectively, heavy) fragments along and against the orientation direction of the spins of the fissioning nuclei produced on capture of polarized thermal neutrons by 233U. The asymmetry coefficient turned out to be a = (2.8 ± 0.3) Χ 10-4. The positive sign means that the light fragments are emitted predominantly in the direction of the neutron-spin orientation.
