Collision-controlled scattering of light by free electrons in semiconductors and the influence exerted on it by an electric field
We observed and investigated the spectrum of light scattering by free electrons in CdS under conditions when the mean free path is shorter than the wavelength of the light. The observed dependence on the concentration and on the scattering angle agrees with the theoretical predictions (Gantsevich et al.y Sov. Phys. JETP 30, 276 (1970) and in "Light Scattering in Solids", edited by M. Balcanskii, Paris, 1971, page 94). A Doppler shift of the spectrum in an electric field was observed.
