Production of polarized hydrogen atoms in ionization collisions of optically oriented 23S1 helium atoms with hydrogen molecules

We report observation of Η and D atom spin polarization produced as a result of ionization collisions between optically oriented metastable helium atoms and H2 and D2 molecules. The registration of the polarized atoms was based on the change of the electric conductivity of the plasma at magnetic resonance.
