We report the first use of sources of high-power coherent radiation (up to 103 W) at the resonant frequency of the observed spectral line of a gas in a microwave spectroscope with an acoustic detector. A sensitivity (1-2) X 10 " cm-1 is obtained in the 34-GHz band. The method can be used in the submillimeter region.
