Investigation of the role of damping in absorption of light by excitons
It is observed that integral absorption of light in the region of quadrupole exciton transition in Cu20 tends to zero with decreasing temperature. This leads to violation of the classical relation between the area under the absorption curve and the oscillator strength of the transition. The mechanism of the observed phenomenon is discussed.
