Selection rules for the line intensity and polarization in the spectra of resonant spontaneous Raman scattering (RSRS)
Using a number of compounds as examples, it is shown that oscillations forbidden by the usual selection rules can be excited in RSRS spectra. The phenomenon is interpreted on the basis of the concepts of mixing of electronic states. Polarization anomalies are observed and are compared with the degeneracy of the lower and upper electronic states and with the phenomenon mentioned above.
