Abstract
The switching dynamics of short pulses under the
effects of intrapulse stimulated Raman scattering (ISRS) and intermodal
dispersion is studied. It is found that ISRS can generally reduce the pulse
width and slow down the pulses simultaneously. With numerical examples, we
demonstrate that the pulse narrowing effect of ISRS can be weakened by the
intermodal dispersion.
