Strong reduction of the Fermi energy of two-dimensional electrons in parallel magnetic field

A strong reduction of the Fermi energy of two-dimensional electrons in parallel magnetic field was directly observed in magnetooptical experiment. The reduction is higher for lower electronic concentration. The observed effect could be associated with a modification of the energy spectrum of two-dimensional electrons by in-plane magnetic field.
