Surface tension of helium II and extrapolation length for the order parameter
Data on the temperature dependence of the surface tension of liquid 4He near and below the Λ-point can be used to obtain quantitative information on the extrapolation length / which figures in the condition ΙάΨ/dz = Ψ for the macroscopic wave function Ψ = л/#7е^ at the boundaries of helium II. In the case о of an interface between helium II and the vapor, this length is / = 22.5 + 2 A; in the case of a boundary between liquid and solid helium it is / £ 5 A.
