Transition effects in the cross section for the excitation of the K shell of atoms by relativistic charged particles
The suppression of the "density effect" in the cross section for excitation of the К shell of the atoms near the vacuum-medium interface is examined. The calculations are in good agreement with the results of the most recent experiments with thin targets, where the suppression of the density effect is observed.
