Radiative corrections to the pion beta decay

The QED radiative corrections to the width of the pion β decay are calculated by choosing muon decay as the normalization process. The hardonic effects in pion-virtual photon interactions are taken into account using the vector meson dominance model. The uncertainties due to the strong interactions and the contribution from the background process were found to be small. The pure pionic radiative correction δ = —1.5% was obtained.
