Nonohmic hopping conductivity in the exponential band tail

The variable range hopping conductivity in a strong electric field £ at a temperature T=0 is investigated. An exponential increase of the density of states g(e) with energy ε is assumed. It is shown that there is an energy level ε=εΒ(Ε) ("the transport level"), along which an electron hops without rising or lowering in average. The dependence σ{ε) has the form: —In σ~\/Ε. © 1994 American Institute of Physics.
