Ponderomotive effects in the near zone of an antenna in a magnetized plasma

The ponderomotive force created by the electromagnetic field is incorporated in an analysis of the structure of the near zone of an antenna in a magnetized plasma. If the current amplitude in a loop antenna exceeds a certain threshold I0, the structure in the near zone changes qualitatively. The threshold current I0 is close to values which have been achieved experimentally.
