Useful energy from thermonuclear reactors
The necessary conditions are indicated for obtaining useful energy from thermonuclear devices in which the ions are heated by energy transfer through Coulomb collisions with electrons. It is shown that this principle can be used to produce a reactor that employs the plasma pinch, described by the author in earlier papers, based of the reaction of deuterium with tritium. The time of the necessary plasma containment in pulsed installations with such an ion-heating method is estimated.
