Observation of a hot-hole population inversion in germanium
An inversion of the distribution function of light holes with respect to that of heavy holes has been observed experimentally at energies corresponding to transitions between bands 1 and 2 in p~Ge (A = 50-150 μιη) in strong crossed electric (E) and magnetic (H) fields at T0 = 18 К and Η = 23 kOe.
