Physical cause of back bending in the plot of the moment of inertia against the rotation frequency
It is shown that the cause of the back bending in the plot of the moment of inertia against the rotation frequency is a restructuring of the ground-state wave function due to the appearance of two-quasiparticle excitations. Expressions are obtained for the rotation frequencies at which the back bending takes place in the ground and yS-vibrational bands.
