Modelling of quasi-1D Wigner solid melting in a parabolic confinement
Abstract
A computer modelling of a quasi-one dimensional (q1D) Coulomb crystal in a parabolic confinement was carried out using molecular dynamics. The melting transition was investigated and critical temperatures were determined on the basis of behaviour of the modified Lindemann parameter, translational correlation function and structure factor. Obtained values of critical temperature are in good agreement with the earlier experiment.
